Welcome to Cicely's Place

CICELY’S PLACE CLOSURE JANUARY 2024

We are very sad to announce that due to ill heath, cost of living and family commitments, we have made the very hard decision to closed Cicely’s Place.

This was not a decision taken lightly, and it is with heavy hearts that we are writing this.

We would like to thank you for your support, and for being amazing guests.

All bookings will be honoured and we will finally close our doors in January 24.

We hope you will still enjoy our beautiful village, all be it from another holiday home.

Kind regards
Caroline & Julie

Location

  • Cicely’s Place is situated on a quiet residential street and offering plenty of on-street parking, Cicely's place is a charming upstairs two-bedroom self catering holiday property, resting in the village of Seaton Sluice, just outside of Whitley Bay on the Northumberland Coast.
  • Ideal for a couple or small family wanting to enjoy the North East of England, you're spoilt for choice with coastline, areas of outstanding natural beauty and a thriving city all in close proximity.
  • Built in the 1920’s, this upstairs flat has been in our family since the 1950’s.  Previously the flat was occupied by our Grandparents Edward (Eddy) and Cicely Coulson.
  • Initially Eddy and Cicely lived at No 24 Queens Road but whilst the street was being modernised (removing the outside toilet and building an inside bathroom) they moved into the fully refurbished flat at No 20.  Here they stayed.
  • The flat is named after our Grandmother Cicely as she had a huge influence on our lives and we have very fond memories of her and about the life lessons she taught us.
  • The village of Seaton Sluice sits at the mouth of the Seaton Burn river, and also has its own beach and Dene, along with a host of attractions like the 18th century mansion and grounds of Seaton Delaval Hall and the lighthouse at St Mary's Island.
  • The seaside resort of Whitley Bay is just three miles away, while the thriving and cosmopolitan city of Newcastle is in driving distance, offering an endless choice of shops, cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants.
  • Cicely's Place is a well-located property for exploring the coast, countryside and thriving cities of the North East of England.
  • There are several local areas near to Seaton Sluice to visit such as:-  Amble, Bamburgh,Blyth, Bedlington, Cramlington, Hexham, Morpeth, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tynemouth, Whitley Bay to name just a few… Alnwick and Alnwick Castle/Gardens, home of Harry Potter is also a short journey away for a great day out.
  • However you do have the Beach and Dene on your doorstep to enjoy.
  • Seaton Sluice boasts its very own Sculptor, Artist, Boat Builder and Yoga Teacher.  Tom Newstead is one of a kind, an eccentric of the village who was born and bred in Seaton Sluice.  Visit him at Shanti Art, 1 West Terrace, Seaton Sluice, Whitley Bay NE26 4RE
